Again getting back to nature, macro and finding the beauty around me

I've been editing my heart out for these last two weddings as well as trying to find my way back into my artform. The jobless depression this summer was tough and the complete shock of never being welcomed into the new job and hastily let go due to some pathetic excuse has been almost more than I can take. I actually feel much better about it. I wont comprimise on quality or my vision, I know if I would have stayed there my art and my creativity would have suffered. It was being doused daily. Good work ethic and timing is just what landed on my doorstep. I have a new job already, hired the day after I got fired. I'm pretty damn happy about it.
I keep finding bugs and creatures that I really would rather not. Outside my door on the awning I found a praying mantis, on my window I've seen a wolf spider and a walking stick. The bat was on the window at my old job and the black dragon fly was on my way out the door on what I would later find out as my last day there, ominous warning anyone? The dead cicada's were stuck in the garage door opener but I find it humerous they are holding hands....
So i was messing around with my logo and pulled up an old folder that I only edited a few images from. Here's what I found....I also realized my choices in what looks good now vs 6 months to a year ago are worlds apart. Ill be revisiting this folder again and tweaking the old images to my new tastes. Ive grown as a photographer and would like to see the differences side by side. The inconsistent color levels and presets and filters and white balance....Im finding my niche and making my voice shine through loud and clear. here is a pile of the original picks from this session.
I adore Halloween. Costumes and candy... whats not to love. i had the chance to do some promo work for the Verona Corn Maze Haunted Cow Train and wanted to show it off again. Expect a few halloween posts today. Puts me in the mood to do a very themed shoot. Fingers crossed this little escapade this evening will turn out well.
You remember Nathan and Rachel from the Lost Valley State park... 5 mile hike this summer don't you? I'm now working on their wedding images!!!! Such a lovely pair they are!!!
A couple of weeks ago I was shooting Nathan and Rachel's wedding and asked my second shooter if he'd like to go on a roadtrip to KC for Sunday. Figuring it was last minute and he is usually pretty busy he wouldn't be able to go I knew it was a long shot. My brakes were on the fritz and I couldn't drive. Glad he wasn't busy.... we had a blast. So much so he took a vacation day the next day for more shenanigans and he's planning on going again next year. As always I got dressed up and this time I had someone taking pics for me... lol JK! Completely grateful sir! I didn't shoot as much and haven't had a chance to even peek at them but here are just acouple of my favorites that I shot.... followed by a slideshow of Mike Smith Photography's pics of me at faire! So i decided to change some things up.... LAH Photo is much easier to dispense and remember at parties..... i like the new logo. streamlined... Feedback?
More of my favorite images of this beautiful couple! Shot a gorgeous family session today on a farm. I love old equipment and fields! teasers should be up soon!
